I finished my last post with 'may sun be just around the corner' but what I should really have wished for is 'may sun continually be just around the corner' because we have had a LOT of corners between April and June and the sun has not always shone around them. Sometimes it has been downright hailstones. In June!
But back to April and a lovely weekend of sun..
....and rain.
This was just before the heavens truly opened.
And we finished our Easter holidays with walks [in the rain] around Loch Ard [which is beautiful but cold].
Technically, I shouldn't really complain, as I did make it to Kinshasa for work in mid-April, which was *quite* hot. I say this because I think we only left the hotel four times (for most of our meetings they came to us), which is maybe a good thing as this was the immediate area around it - and this was the nice part of town.
Dinner on the Congo River:
Cousin time at the Kelpies in March.
And Fingerling came 3rd in her piano competition.
And we finished April with someone special's birthday:
May started very promisingly with the end of my hectic 5-week-crazy-at-work period, and a stinking hot weekend in Nantes, which was a trip I rewarded myself with, with little crevette (actually a misbooking but hey, I'm not going to kick a cheap flight away).
Crevette saw ALL her friends, I had to accompany her :)
Despite the aperol spritz in the setting sun, I also tried out my first triathlon, and then my second.
And came third the first time, and the second. BUT I take heart that I improved by 8 minutes (52 to 44 mins) between the first and second races, and came third by only 50 seconds in the second one....and the winner turned 17 one month earlier. I'll take it as a win.
Small Fry hit his own goals - and in one case, the ground, on his new racer bike.
And third in both fencing competitions.
Spotting a family trend here...
May was also birthday month in this house:
The first weekend of June and the warmest weather since the triathlon was a lucky strike for our prearranged meet-up with the cousins on Loch Morlich. So. Warm. I swam IN the loch WITHOUT my wetsuit, which is something I don't even do in Brittany anymore.
And a few other activities in May:
And to finish up with, a smorgasbord of little Crevette's various outputs. I mean, why wouldn't you wear a tutu to climb a mountain?
