Well it's that time of year...usually my favourite time of year. The crispy autumn leaves, the magical celebrations involving candles and fireworks, the toffee apples, the cold mornings, the bonfire.
This year it has been cold, wet and COVID-infused. The upside is that we have moved in to our new home, we have lots more space (except in the driveway...more on that later), and we have really nice neighbours who have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome in the 'hood.
But first, COVID. Perhaps it's a reflection of our lack of social life that we haven't been too impacted by the tightening restrictions. Schools have stayed open (thankfully) and many activities moved back online after being held in person for about 4 weeks. We have still been able to get a takeaway coffee now and again and natter with other adults at the school gates or at Church in the Trees on a Sunday morning.
But generally, the ongoing crisis seems to sap my energy (which miraculously returns when the sun comes out). So we have been trying to leverage the long, dark nights into some silver linings.
Having cousins over (when we still could) to warm the house:
Enjoying the park, which is now only just over the back wall:
Trying to get everything organised in the house:
And celebrate gunpowder, treason and plot as best we can:
Pumpkin carving and dressing up:
I think you can tell that we don't halloween for a bit of dress up in this house.
Anyway, November is also birthday month which requires birthday present shopping and a little, teensy weensy bit, just sometimes, once or twice (ok twice) some cake eating...
For mama and papa, probably the overriding memory of the past month, is this:
