Bring back summer #acclimatising

Who stole summer?

Even if the weather hasn't always been on our side, we have had a very special summer.

First up: meeting my niece!
Quickly followed by our 10 year wedding celebrations/goodbye party. A stinking hot Friday was followed by a cooler, more bearable Saturday's and eventually some light drizzle on Sunday, but we had an amazing time.

And the 'all of us' picture:

Thank you to everyone who came, who helped, and who celebrated with us. We have such wonderful memories of our families, friends, and community here in Nantes.

While we cleared up, the aunts took the kids off for more memory-making moments:

And from there it was off to not one, but two family holidays.

The first was to celebrate Oma's 70th as a whole family, in Le Pas Opton - a campsite in the Vendée region. Free childcare on site in the mornings, a pool onsite, large villas, celebrating together. What's not to love?

And canoeing!

Thanks Oma!

And the next break was with the other side of the family. Well, half-and-half, as SAS (Super Aunty Sonia) and family joined us for the week as well, exploring both Brest and the cold, cold seas around.

Making the most of it anyway: :)

And then back home via a few stops:

What remains?

The packing [groan]. So maybe I should be thankful for that cooler weather after all.

End of the Road #School'sOut

That's it! School's out! Our 2 years in Nantes are over and we said goodbye to teachers, parents and friends. But of course we don't do that without a party (or 5)!

The end of the school year is always celebrated with the school fete (the Kermesse), which was our main chance to see our singing-dancing kids, and say goodbye to classmates.

The end of term is also the chance to see all of the various end of term shows, including their year if art classes.

The warmer weather also meant dinners at the beach, eating every meal in the garden, and some hotter moments for the cats.

And finally, the kids' individual going away parties to say goodbye to their friends"

But of course we left the best for last! (see next post!)
