2 weeks off #TheBigDisconnect

So that's us off on our hols. The bags are packed...by which I mean the 3 suitcases, 5 items of hand luggage, 2 car seats and a buggy...but minus one pair of hands to help us carry it all. Yup, Le Poz's passport expired at the beginning of February and it will take him a few days to get a new one, so he won't be joining us until later. Of course we are all gutted (and wondering how we're going to transport all our stuff) but hope this is the only mishap. See, it doesn't just happen to Kellings.

I've also decided not to take the laptop, which means no updates until I get back. I've been reading a book on technology and family life and have decided to take a break from all the advantages and disadvantages that having my computer with me brings. And you know, there's always my smartphone.

So I'll leave you with a little image of family bonding taken this afternoon. See you on Easter Monday!

A Wednesday #WithKids

Everything Small Fry does is now 'a moi' or 'Merlin fait' which all adds up to the same thing: he wants to do it himself. Aaaaand this is the result:
It's not clear from the photo but it's the classic left shoe on right foot
And Fingerling also has her own wardrobe malfunctions to contend with. This was us getting in to the lift:
Aaaaand this was her after repeatedly whipping her head back and forth to looking from herself in the mirror on the left to Small Fry mucking about on the right.
And this last one is for funsies. It's technically Momma Boyd's but seeing as I am sleep-obsessed at the moment (as in I'm hardly getting any), I thought I'd add it too:

Finally tall enough #BalanceBike

Thanks to Moz+Poz, Small Fry has been the proud owner of a balance bike since Christmas. But even at its lowest setting he was struggling to touch the ground with his tippie-toes. A few months on and he's really scootling around.

The next problem for me is keeping up with him while carrying Fingerling.

Here we go again #BabyLedWeaning

One week short of 6 months old and Fingerling can't get enough of the broccoli.

She's been chomping at the bit for the past couple of weeks: every time we eat she becomes very agitated and whines, so finally I got her chomping on the veggies and she is very, very happy.

I really wanted to wait until after our trip to Peru but she's a determined little girlie. Here we go again! Bits of food everywhere....

Park buddies #ExpectLotsMoreCarouselPhotos

The carousel is back! It closed down at the start of winter and big signs announced that it was under new management and would open in the spring, but nothing seemed to change. In the space of about 2 days last weekend, the whole thing was repainted and the mechanics upgraded, and now Small Fry can go back to bugging me for a turn.

The price has jumped from €1.20 a shot to €2, but you can also get 10 shots for €10, so it's still cheaper than most of the other carousels around.
The advantage of living in a small quartier with lots of families, a central park, and bumping into other parents on the crèche run each day, is that you inevitably cross paths again. Yesterday we randomly met my friend Claire near the slides, and today we bumped into Small Fry's friend Julie at the swings.
After all that fun it was up to Papa to get Small Fry ready for bed while I fed Fingerling. That's one way to make sure the pajama top stays tucked in...

One after the other #StillRecovering

Fingerling
7.2 kg
64 cm
...and a 20-a-day smoker's cough. The poor thing doesn't have bronchitis but she's got a cough that makes me jump out of bed in the middle of the night to check she's ok. Roll on spring...

Getting better #SlowGoing

I finally felt well enough to get some breakfast with Small Fry. I coughed my way along to the café and whispered my order. But at least I got out the house.
