Dry days, wet days #SameReaction
When the weather outside is delightful, I go to the park with my budding train spotter.
And when it's frightful, Small Fry gets to watch the workmen working on the building opposite. Either way, it's always interesting enough to get a pointed finger and a big WOW.
The world is just a wonderful place seen through the eyes of a curious kid.
The Sap is Rising #SpringIsInTheAir
That's what Jumpy used to say at University: the sap is rising. It's that time of year when the ducks violently attempt to make little baby ducklings. Yesterday, 5 malards were biting the head of a female duck in the water, trying to get leverage. It looked like a mass-scale drowning and attracted quite a confused crowd of onlookers. Other female ducks were flying overhead with a retinue of males attempting to grab them - one did get the bride, biting her head in mid-flight before finally letting go as they both plummeted to the ground. It's almost been a bit too much to watch. So at the moment, Small Fry and I go to the other side of the park to watch the trains instead. Much more predictable.

Word Power #wow
Small Fry's most absolute favourite word is:
WOW.
Said like that:
WOW.
Not wow or wow.
WOW.
Said like that:
WOW.
Not wow or wow.
A real WOW. A sharp and loud intake of breath often preceeds it, so that you get the full dramatic effect of the subject's awesomeness.
So far, the subject has been: dogs, cranes, lamps, skateboarders, the sun, views, snow, dinner, a new experience, a messy bedroom, and people moving too slowly in front of the pram.
So you can see, he's fairly accurate in his usage.
I'm sure that if he could see all the pictures of himself on this blog we'd also hear a WOW.
Snow Style #BellePlagne
Sorry for disappearing just like that. Things always get busy right before you go on holiday. And what with the house move, persistent stinky paint, an awesome visit from Oma and still unpacking boxes, I forgot to get blogging pre-trip.
Anyway, we have returned from a wonderful week of boarding/skiing in Belle Plagne, which on a map of France, is here:
And on the ground, it looks like this:

| Still no. |
The week was filled with snow, snow, cheese, cheese and bread....raclette, fondue, some skiing in there...
Thanks to our babysitters who organised the week and looked after Small Fry so that we could get some awesome moments like these:

Happy V-Day snow style!

...and apparently low in iron (so they think). So they want to take blood, test his HB level, give him iron tablets, and then tablets that reduce the effect (constipation) of iron tablets, and then test his HB again.
Apparently one third of children in developed countries at this age suffer from low iron.
Anybody got any experience in this area? Seems a bit much when I could just cook with a bit more red meat. What about my dear veggie friends - any tales to tell?
