Hey Mama #9thedition

9 years. 9 years since I became a momma. And all thanks to this amazing Small Fry:

Which is why we celebrated his birthday 3 times!

Once on the day:

Once with all his mates a week later:

And once with the grandparents and cousins!

And of course mummy and daddy also went out to celebrate their 9 years in the most famous restaurant (and excellent) in Nantes:

And not connected, but still wonderful, was a visit to a waffle shop by the cousins on the other side, and yes, we ate waffles.

And got our lights installed (12 down, 12 to go!

And other things we got up to:

Vive les Vacances #half-termfun

It was a long 7-week term it seemed, especially for little crevette who cried at having to go to school for the first three of them.

So it was a welcome 2-week break that seems to have set us back to the beginning: poor crevette returned to school yesterday morning in tears again (and returned home triumphant, again).

Still, the holidays were a chance for us to explore more of our home city, but with lots and lots of old friends. But first, the kids did actually get a couple of days away at the seaside with grandparents and cousins and a few penguins (at the aquarium only).

And then some community-building on the rue Massenet on the 31st of October. French style, mais oui (i.e. bonbons for kids and champagne for adults. My kind of Halloween it has to be said. No having my wits scared out of me in the Raploch. And that's on a regular day).

Plus a visit to the circus with neighbours (as part of the audience harhar):

And it's been 4.5 years, 2 countries and a global pandemic since we last saw Zak ('Zak my friend, not Zach my cousin' as he's actually called) so it was great to see him and his mum Blaire again. Plus any excuse to walk through the first to the river, cross on the free boat taxi and be blown around on the afternoon of a cold and windy day.

And then the final sets of friends: the only ones who made it to Scotland while we were there. So extra kudos to them. Great to welcome them again to our home and city, this time only a train ride away (and about 10 degrees warmer). And waffles.
