Pins & Needles #excitement,energy&ER

Ugh. We're back to my bi-weekly catch ups.

And it's not like nothing happens, but work was a bit crazy as we approached a massive 31 August deadline, and then we found a house. Yes, we FOUND A HOUSE.

So pleased, because that was a craaazzeee 3 weeks visiting house after house after house. We saw some right mingin' ones, a lot of do-er up-pers, quite a few out of our price range, several perfectly decent options, and then finally, we found The One

They all say that you know that you know, and I guess we did. We put a cheeky low offer on it (especially given the current mad-lockdown real estate catch-up), and it was accepted. It's still got to all go through, but it seems like we will be living in an upper conversion (unexpected), in Stirling (wouldn't have placed bets on it), backing on to a park (big plus), with a little garden (but previous point helps balance this), in walk-in condition (bonus), with sellers who want to go quickly (thankfully), within biking distance from school (yay) but of course, a little over budget (boo). Well, top end of budget. So I'm not quite rolling in as much cash as I thought I might be, but we are definitely, definitely happy with our choice. It's pretty close to Oma too, which just gives us another reason to head over closer to the river once we've got our bikes back.

Fine, this is not actually it, but it is the moment when I decided to put an offer in on it. I'd taken Small Fry to football and went for a run around the park. At one point it climbs up high to the golf course and you get a stunning view in every direction...as I was looking, the sun came out and lit up the Castle and that was me, a sucker for those miracle moments ;-)

Anyway, we came back from France, school began (although technically school had already begun), and we moved in with Oma, getting to used to our 'new normal'.

We found Teddy a temporary new home:

And little crevette poked me in the eye during one of her nightly visits to our bed. I'm not sure what's going on there - mostly I think she just stirs in her sleep around 2am but Small Fry is a light sleeper and he gets out of bed still half-asleep and tells us his little sister is 'awake'. She's not actually but by the time he's got out of bed, walked across the room, bashed into the door, called out for me, and then told me she's awake, she really is.

It was an unfortunate accident, but one of those cute little nails of hers reached out for me in the dark (she likes skin-to-skin but in the dark it can be hard to find mummy's cheek) and made contact with my eyeball. I knew straight away it was a nasty one, but just assumed it would be better by morning.
It did not, and as it was steadily getting worse, I called my local GP the following day and eventually ended up at A&E where I got drops that provided relief. The 3-5 days' healing turned into almost 3 weeks, but it seems to be finally on the mend.

So we got back to doing other things that we love doing:

...and a few things we are not that good at.
With lockdown lifted, we were able to meet with friends and family again:

...and do other things we'd been waiting 6 months to do.
